A Message from Liam

“I want say a huge “Thank You” to all my supporters and helpers
for our amazing result in Liverpool’s first Mayoral Election.
To finish second – ahead of candidates from established parties -
was a remarkable feat.

I congratulate Cllr Joe Anderson on his election. Joe now has a mandate to bring about the improvements Liverpool needs. I have always said that a Mayor should be able to put aside party loyalties to work with anyone who wants to make Liverpool better.

The Mayor-Elect has invited me to play an unpaid and independent role in helping to scrutinise the expensive and controversial Council contract with Liverpool Direct Limited (LDL). I have accepted Joe’s invitation. He has accepted my view that Liverpool needs its sceptics as well as its cheerleaders.
In the spirit which characterised our election campaign, I aim to be an “honest friend” to Liverpool in whatever way I can.”
